Release Engineer – RHEL Migration / Platform Modernization

Job Description

We are seeking a Release Engineer to support an enterprise RHEL7 to RHEL9 modernization initiative. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in Linux platform engineering, CI/CD, containerization, package engineering, and security remediation .

Key Responsibilities

• Lead migration of applications and services from RHEL7 to RHEL9 , resolving package and dependency issues.
• Build, compile, and manage RPM packages and troubleshoot binary compatibility challenges.
• Modernize container platforms by migrating from Docker to Podman and supporting Rancher-managed Kubernetes environments.
• Develop and maintain Jenkins CI/CD pipelines using Groovy , and build automation tools using Python .
• Perform vulnerability remediation , CVE resolution, and implement RHEL9 security hardening.
• Automate large-scale OS configuration using Ansible and support secure software supply chain practices.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5-7 years of Linux/Platform Engineering experience with 5+ years of hands-on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration, including RHEL9 .
• Strong expertise in Linux administration, Python, Groovy, Jenkins, Ansible, Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, and Rancher .
• Experience with Make, CMake, GCC , package engineering, and CI/CD automation.
• Strong background in platform modernization, containerization, and OS migration .
• Experience with security hardening, vulnerability remediation, and enterprise infrastructure modernization .
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work in client-facing environments.

Ideal Candidate

A hands-on Platform/Release Engineer with deep Linux engineering expertise who has successfully delivered RHEL modernization, CI/CD automation, and container platform transformations . Pure support or system administration profiles are not suitable.
