Data Engineer - Land Ownership Monitoring Project

Work Site: Calgary, CA (Onsite) Start Date: Immediate Availability Employment Type: Contract / Possible 3 Month CTH

Role Summary

We are seeking a Data Engineer to support a Land Ownership Monitoring project, working with external agencies to ingest land ownership records into the customer’s data ecosystem. The role will focus on ETL development, data ingestion, analytics, and medallion architecture using Databricks .

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest land ownership data from external agencies.
  • Retrieve and process data through FTP-based data transfers .
  • Design and implement data pipelines using Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold).
  • Perform data transformation, cleansing, validation, and quality checks.
  • Work with Databricks as the primary data engineering platform.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot data issues to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with external agencies, business stakeholders, and technical teams to support data integration requirements.
  • Maintain technical documentation for data pipelines, transformations, and processes.
  • Support ongoing optimization and improvement of data ingestion and processing workflows.

Required Skills

  • Strong experience in Data Engineering and ETL/ELT development .
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks .
  • Strong understanding of Medallion Architecture and modern data platforms.
  • Experience working with FTP/SFTP-based data ingestion .
  • Strong data transformation, cleansing, validation, and analytics skills.
  • Experience integrating data from external sources and third-party agencies.
  • Strong SQL and data processing capabilities.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with geospatial/spatial data and geographical datasets.
  • Experience with land, property, GIS, or ownership-related data.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms and data lake architectures.
  • Experience with data quality and governance practices.
