GCP Senior Data Engineer Grade

Location: Canada (Remote)

Role Overview

We are seeking a GCP Senior Data Engineer Grade with strong data engineering leadership experience to lead data engineering teams and deliver scalable data platforms and pipelines on Google Cloud Platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using Dataflow (Apache Beam), Dataproc (Spark), Pub/Sub, and Cloud Functions.
• Architect and manage BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Data Fusion for efficient data ingestion, transformation, and storage.
• Lead a team of 10 engineers , review code, establish data engineering standards, and drive CI/CD and monitoring practices.
• Optimize pipeline performance, query efficiency, and GCP cost management , including slot reservations and partitioning.
• Work with data architects, data scientists, and analysts to deliver self-service data platforms and support advanced analytics/ML use cases.
• Implement data validation, lineage, and metadata management using tools such as Data Catalog and dbt.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Experience leading data engineering teams onshore and offshore . This is a lead position, not a senior data engineer position; candidates without leadership experience will not be considered.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, Java/Scala , and distributed systems including Spark and Beam .
• Hands-on experience with GCP , including BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Composer (Airflow), and Terraform.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Git, and infrastructure-as-code .
• Experience with data engineering standards, code reviews, monitoring, and production data platforms.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• GCP certifications , such as Professional Data Engineer.
• Experience with real-time processing, Vertex AI, or multi-cloud environments .
