Location: Toronto, ON - Hybrid Duration: Initial 3 Months with Possible Extension Start: Immediate / ASAP
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced IT Auditor with a strong risk-based mindset and background in IT audit, control testing, and financial services . The ideal candidate will have experience working in or with large banking environments , with sufficient technology and cybersecurity knowledge to effectively challenge first-line teams.
This role focuses on risk assessment, control effectiveness, audit observations, and clear communication , rather than checklist-based auditing.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform IT audit and control testing activities with a strong focus on risk.
- Assess technology, IT, and cybersecurity risks and control effectiveness.
- Work with first-line technology and business teams to challenge and validate controls.
- Identify, document, and communicate audit observations in a clear and structured manner.
- Evaluate risks and translate technical findings into business-focused observations.
- Collaborate with audit, technology, cybersecurity, and business stakeholders.
- Support audit activities across large and complex banking environments.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in IT Audit and/or IT Control Testing .
- Risk-based auditing experience with the ability to think beyond checklists.
- Experience working in or with large banking / financial services organizations .
- Solid understanding of technology and cybersecurity concepts.
- Ability to credibly challenge first-line technology teams.
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to structure and clearly articulate audit observations.
Certifications
Preferred:
- CRISC
- CISA
- CIA
Nice to Have:
- CISSP
Industry Experience: Banking experience highly preferred.
